As you’ve probably figured out by now, I like sweet oddities in music. My taste goes to things quirky. This group is a great example of that. They’re very entertaining and based on an old concept made completely original: the choir. Now, I love all of their voices, but my favorite is that big guy with his very very low voice, the kind that can trigger earthquakes.
They cover a wide range of songs in this three minutes clip and I like their taste, or their theatrics. Anyway, you can see them here.
Also, I wanted to address briefly the beatboxing subject. When I teach drummers, I sometimes “sing” or “beatbox” the pattern the student is supposed to be playing. Some of my students who are discovering a new page and can’t play it ask that I do the beat with my mouth. Now, this guy on this video is light years ahead of what I do. As I am watching him I am not sure that he’s not being helped by some kind of backing track. It is not only extraordinary but downright incrdeible. There is also this one that I posted a long time ago and is still full of charm.
